Description
Langholm Primary School is a tall, symmetrical building with a mix of construction dates. The central block, which is two stories high with an attic, features gabled roofs, end stacks, and a projecting central stair turret, all built in 1894. Flanking this central block are single-storey wings constructed in 1854, each with a wide gabled entrance bay closest to the taller block and twin-gabled sides.
The school is built of stugged ashlar stone, with the central block in a darker shade, and includes polished dressings and saw-toothed skews. The windows are bipartite sash types, and the roofs are covered with slate.
