Description
Cheese Loft at Mains of Cairnbrock is a two-storey cheese loft built in the late 19th century, forming the western end of a U-plan steading. The building is constructed of painted rubble and features projecting cills.
On the east elevation, there is an enlarged doorway to the right, with two window openings to the left and one to the left of centre at the ground floor. The first floor has four windows. The west elevation has five window openings at the ground floor and four on the first floor. The south elevation is gabled and blank. The north elevation is adjoined to a lower stable range.
Inside, the upper floor has a timber coombed ceiling, along with some original equipment and shelving. The window openings are partly glazed, featuring 6-pane glazing, and some are partly shuttered. There are louvred openings on the ground floor to the east, and several openings are boarded. The building has red sandstone coped skews, a granite dressed rubble gablehead stack with a red sandstone cope on the north side, grey slates, and a red sandstone ridge.
