Description
Atkinson Place is a late 19th century building that serves as alms houses. It is constructed from squared, snecked granite with sandstone dressings. The structure is square and built on three sides, featuring 16 terraced and detached single-storey houses with attics, and two-storeys facing St Mary's Street. The building has chamfered margins, and the north and east sides have symmetrically placed gabled bays, with two central gables on the west elevation facing the street. There are gabled wallhead dormers and a slate roof. The entrance is marked by wrought-iron gates that bear the inscription, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
