Description
Kirkinner Primary School, built in the mid-19th century, is a tall single-storey school designed in a cross-plan layout. The building is constructed from whinstone rubble with sandstone ashlar dressings, featuring hoodmoulds and stone mullions. It has bipartite windows that are glazed with small-pane uPVC casements. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes ashlar coped skews topped with ball finials and rough skewputts. The school has a corniced and margined end stack as well as an axial stack, both with octagonal cans.
The retaining wall surrounding the playground is made of ashlar and rubble coped materials, with a rubble whinstone structure.
