Description
16 and 18 Main Street in Glenluce is an earlier 19th-century cottage that is single storey with an attic and features five bays arranged in a 2-1-1 pattern. It is located at the end of a terrace and has a pebble-dashed exterior. The building has painted protruding cills and painted ashlar rusticated quoins on the northeast side, along with an eaves course and a painted base course.
On the north elevation facing Main Street, there is a door located in the bay to the right of the center, with windows in the remaining bays. Above the outer bays, there are two slate-hung piended dormer windows.
The west elevation is adjoined to No. 14 Main Street. The east elevation, facing Bankfield Road, has a gable to the right and a window to the left. There is a large pebble-dashed lean-to garage attached to the left side, which features double-leaf boarded doors on the right.
The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in sash and case style, while the dormer windows have 4-pane glazing. The building does not have skews and features pebble-dashed gablehead stacks, which are broad to the east and mutual to the west. The roof is covered with small purple-grey slates, while the garage has a corrugated asbestos roof.
