Description

This building at 2 Main Street in Glenluce is an earlier 19th-century cottage featuring a single storey, attic, and basement, with a three-bay front. The structure is two-storey at the rear due to the sloping ground. It is constructed of painted rubble with painted raised margins and quoin strips, and has an eaves course.

On the north elevation facing Main Street, there is a central door with stone steps that extend over the basement. Windows are located in the outer bays on the ground floor and basement, with an additional door at the basement beneath the steps. To the left of the main door, there is a blocked doorway. Above the outer bays, modern gabled dormer windows have been added.

The west elevation is gabled and blank, while the east elevation is also gabled and blank, featuring blocked windows on both sides between the basement and ground floor. A rubble wall is attached to the outer right side.

The building has modern top-hopper glazing and lacks skews. It features broad painted rubble gablehead stacks with red sandstone coping on both the east and west sides, topped with modern tiles and octagonal cans.

Iron spearhead railings are present along the north side of the property.
