Description
Heather House is a mid-19th century rustic summerhouse located on the Drumlanrig Estate. This octagonal structure features a low-pitched conical slate roof that extends over a continuous open verandah, which is supported by tree trunks that are braced in a rustic style. The walls are faced with heather and have arched openings, with the main door facing roughly north, protected by modern timber and netting frames. The seats along the inner and outer walls are faced with split branches. Inside, the walls and roof are lined with moss arranged in patterns that include the Queensberry crest.
