Description
Dated 1737, as indicated on the door lintel, the Old Manse at Beattock is a long-abandoned former parish manse with associated outbuildings. The main building is two storeys high and three bays wide, constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings. It features chamfered margins around the windows, and the ground floor openings have relieving arches. The rear (northwest) windows have been blocked, and the interior has largely been stripped out. A slated roof, which is not original, covers the building.
A pair of low, parallel outbuildings are located to the south of the manse.
A stone dated 1626 is set above the door. The building is designated Category C(S) due to its poor condition, a designation that followed a change from Category B on 22 February 1988.
