Description
Ivybank is a two-storey house located on a sloping site in Creebridge, Newton Stewart, and dates from before 1805. The house features a slightly lower wing attached to the west. The south elevation of the wing is harled, while the other elevations are made of painted rubble with painted raised margins and angle margins on the main block.
On the southeast elevation, the main block is positioned to the right, featuring a modern door located to the right of center within an advanced doorcase topped with a block pediment above the eaves. There is a window to the left of the door, and a window on the first floor of the wing, which is recessed to the left.
The east elevation, facing Creebridge, has a window at the center. The north elevation shows the main block to the left, with a door at the center, a window to the right of center, and a small window to the left at ground level. On the first floor, there are windows to the left and right of center. The wing, which is recessed to the right, has a door to the left and a window to the right on the first floor.
The west elevation has windows on both the left and right sides at ground level. The house features 4-pane glazing in sash and case windows, except for modern glazing on the west elevation. It has red sandstone coped skews, except on the southeast side, and painted gablehead stacks made of rubble on the east and west, with brick on the main block and wing. The roof is covered with graded grey slates and includes rooflights on both south pitches.
Additionally, there are cusped spearhead iron railings on the east side of the property.
