Description
Globe House is an early 19th-century building on Ecclefechan High Street. It is a two-story, three-bay structure originally rendered as ashlar with painted ashlar margins. The central doorway is boarded, featuring an acid-etched window indicating it was formerly licensed to sell tobacco. There are shop windows at ground level, with a blocked window above them; the window to the right is larger and has stop-chamfered margins. The first floor has sash windows, and the roof is slate-covered with corniced end stacks. A tall range of rear outbuildings adjoins the west gable. The statutory address is Globe House, including Watson’s Shop, on Ecclefechan Village High Street. The building’s grade has been raised from Category B to Category C(S).
