2 Garthwaite Place, High Street, Ecclefechan

This is an earlier or mid-19th century row of two buildings sharing a common roof, located on High Street in Ecclefechan. The row is approximately three bays wide for each range. The western range features a shop front and two first-floor windows, while the other range has a main door positioned to the left of centre.

The buildings are constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, although the margins are now painted. They feature mainly small-paned sash windows, corniced ground floor openings, and end and axial chimney stacks – two of which have been rebuilt in brick. A spike finial sits atop the eastern gable, and the roof is covered with graded slates.

The building's listed status was changed from Category B to Category C(S) on October 4, 1988. The statutory address is Ecclefechan Village, High Street, Garthwaite Place, and references previous occupants including a painter, Creelman, and Mrs Horsburgh.
