Paling's, 128 Queensberry Street, Dumfries

Paling's is an early 20th-century, three-storey framed shop and warehouse located at 128 Queensberry Street in Dumfries. The building is set back from street level and features red ashlar cladding with free Renaissance details. It has six bays, with the left side being plainer and including a timber-gated pend. The façade is divided by pilaster strips, featuring large square-headed openings at the ground level and round-headed windows on the first floor, which have multi-paned glazing above the springing level. The third floor, positioned above the main cornice, includes multi-paned windows, corbelled oriels in alternate bays, and dormer heads that alternate between pedimented and Dutch-gabled styles. The inner dormers are flanked by octagonal shafts that extend upwards as finials with bell-cast tops. The building also has horizontal strings and cornices, and a concealed roof.
