Brook Street Mill, 121 Brook Street, Alva

Brook Street Mill, located at 121 Brook Street in Alva, is an early to mid 19th century group that includes a 2-bay, 2-storey house at the south and an adjoining 8-bay, lower 2-storey factory to the north. The building is constructed of tooled rubble with contrasting tooled squared rubble dressings.

The house features a margined and corniced door at the north, with one window on the ground floor and two on the first floor, all with 4-pane glazing. It has one gablet dormer and two windows in the south gable, along with coped end stacks and a slate roof. There is also a rear outshot.

The factory has a wide entrance at the north and includes seven windows on the ground floor (some of which are blocked) and eight on the first floor, with some top-hinged, 2-light openings. The glazing pattern consists of two pairs of horizontal upper panes and three parallel vertical lower panes. The factory has a slate roof that is half piended to the north and features a small stack at the north end.
