Description
The Johnstone Mausoleum, located in Alva Churchyard, was designed by Robert and James Adam in 1790. This mausoleum features a Graeco-Roman style, characterized by columns that have Greek shafts and Roman capitals. It has a square plan and is constructed from droved ashlar stone. The structure includes a groin-vaulted ceiling and an entrance arch that is framed by Doric columns topped with a pediment. Additionally, there are niches on the north and south sides, each with a pediment above.
