Description
The Edinburgh Dry Dock Pumping House, located in Leith Docks, Edinburgh, was designed by J M Rendel and G Robertson and dates back to 1881. This single-storey building features a layout of 2 by 3 bays and showcases Renaissance architectural details. It is constructed from variegated brick, with a sandstone base course and some sandstone dressings. Each bay contains a segmental-arched window or door, set within a blind segmental-arched arcade that has a corbelled impost course, topped by an eaves cornice.
The east and west elevations are pedimented and include bull's-eye windows, with the west elevation also featuring a datestone. The south elevation has an arched timber door positioned in the centre bay. The building is fitted with casement windows that have 3-pane top hoppers and is topped with a slate roof. Additionally, there are some square downpipes and eaves gutters present.
