26-30 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh

26-30 Lauriston Place is a classical tenement building dating from around 1819. It stands four storeys high with a basement and features four bays. The building is slightly advanced from its neighbors and is set back behind a small garden. The exterior is made of cream ashlar stone, which is channelled at the ground level and lightly droved above and at the basement, while the rear is constructed of rubble. There are dividing bands between the basement and ground floors, as well as between the ground and first floors. Cill courses are present at the first and third floors, and there is a moulded eaves course that is raised at the sides and center.

Access to the building is via stone steps and platts, which are adorned with cast-iron railings that arch over the basement areas. The timber panelled doors are located in round-arched recesses in the first and second bays on the left, with an umbrella fanlight above the door to No 26. The first-floor windows have corniced architraved surrounds, while the second-floor windows feature projecting cills. The windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are corniced rendered stacks with circular cans at the ridge.

The property is enclosed by a low coped ashlar boundary wall topped with spear-headed cast-iron railings. The railings have spear-headed finials, and the cast-iron gate features pine cone finials on the gateposts.
