Description
Cammo House, located on Cammo Road in Edinburgh, is a possibly Thomas Wilkie-designed classical house dating from 1693. It is a single-storey, five-bay ruin that has been secured and consolidated by Simpson & Brown in 1980. The structure is built of squared and snecked rubble with ashlar dressings, and earth has been built up around the ruin to form a bank.
On the south elevation, there is a central moulded doorpiece with rosettes in the top corners, a cornice, and a broken pediment, which features carving and the date in the tympanum. Flanking this doorpiece are two single windows. The west elevation shows blocked basement windows and relieving arches, along with remains of window surrounds at the ground floor. The north elevation consists of low remains of the rear wall. The east elevation mirrors the west, but the left bay contains a doorway instead of a window.
