89 West Bow, Edinburgh

89 West Bow in Edinburgh is a late 17th century tenement building that stands four storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The ground floor includes a shop, and the building is stepped to follow the slope of the street, with flats accessed from a common stair at No 87. The exterior is constructed of random rubble with relieving arches and ashlar margins, and there are cill courses at the first, second, and third floors. Above the eaves cornice, there is a crowstepped gable that has two windows and a small window to the right, along with two flight-holes above. The shop front features a recessed glazed timber door and a dentilled cornice, dating from 1863 when George Fox was involved. The rear of the building is also made of random rubble and has an irregular arrangement of windows, with a crowstepped gable that includes a single window. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates.
