Description
4 Mansionhouse Road is a villa built around 1877, featuring two stories and a three-bay rectangular plan. The exterior is constructed from sandstone rubble, with the west (entrance) elevation and dressings made of coursed ashlar. Notable architectural details include a base course, quoin strips, architraved windows with bracketed sills, and a modillioned cornice.
The west elevation showcases a deep-set panelled door at the center, topped by a plate glass fanlight. The doorpiece has a moulded surround, carved consoles, and a broken pediment, with a window positioned above. To the left, there is a full-height canted window with pilaster mullions on the ground floor and shouldered architraves on the first floor, featuring fillet detail and a dividing cornice. To the right, a tripartite window in the bay has a consoled cornice, along with a single window on the first floor.
The north elevation includes a modern forestair, while the south elevation has two windows on both the ground and first floors. The villa features 2-pane plate-glass sash and case windows, a grey slate piended roof, and a moulded eaves gutter. The interior was not seen in 1990. There is also a modern detached garage located to the south.
