85 Kirkbrae, Edinburgh

85 Kirkbrae is an early 19th century single-storey terrace building, situated with a cottage to the south and a workshop to the north. The structure is constructed of random rubble with ashlar dressings. It features timber sash and case windows, along with some modern look-alike windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates and includes cast-iron rooflights in the workshop, while the south end has a rendered stack and there is a brick mutual stack.

The cottage has three bays, with a timber boarded door located in the center and windows on either side. The end gable facing Mount Vernon Road is blank. The workshop to the north has an enlarged opening on the left side and two later bipartite windows on the right.

Inside the workshop, which may have served as a schoolroom in the late 19th century, there is tongue and groove panelling throughout and rooflights at the rear.
