Description
This early 18th century structure is a square ashlar pillar located in the boundary wall of 108 Grange Loan in Edinburgh, standing approximately 3 meters high. At the top, it features a carved stone coronet and a wyvern.
On the south elevation facing Grange Loan, the pillar has a rubble base that rises to about 75 centimeters. The fluted pillar is adorned with carved ashlar bands, including two bands with tassel carvings and one blank band. It is topped with an Ionic style capital and a plinth that supports the coronet and the wyvern's head, which is positioned to the west. The western face of the pillar is finished with banded polished ashlar. The pillar is connected to a tall rubble boundary wall to the north.
