Description
21 Upper Gray Street is a pair of symmetrical, classical houses built in 1860. The building is two stories high and has six bays. The principal elevation features cream sandstone droved ashlar, while the side and rear are constructed of rubble. Notable architectural details include a base course, advanced cills for the ground floor windows, a cill course for the first-floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.
On the west (entrance) elevation, there are doorways in the two central bays, which have panelled doors and plate glass fanlights above. The first floor features single windows above these doorways, while the remaining bays also have single windows on both floors. The roof includes two box dormers.
The windows are 4-pane, timber, sash and case style. The roof is pitched and covered with grey slate, featuring coped, rendered wallhead stacks with octagonal moulded cans.
The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall along the street, with replacement railings.
