Description
4 Mayfield Terrace is a pair of classical houses built around 1860. They are two stories high with a basement and feature a symmetrical four-bay design. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone with polished ashlar dressings, while the sides and rear are constructed of rubble. Key architectural details include a base course, moulded architraves with plain aprons, a cill course for the first-floor windows, a cornice, and a blocking course.
The northern entrance elevation has steps leading to doorways located in the two central bays. These doorways have panelled doors and plate glass fanlights, with corbelled cornices above the doorpieces. There are small pairs of windows between the doors at ground level, and single windows above on the first floor, as well as in the outer bays. The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with corniced wallhead and ridge stacks featuring octagonal moulded cans.
The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is also bordered by a low coped boundary wall along the street, with replacement railings.
