Description

Mid 19th century. 3-storey, 4-bay terraced tenement built out at ground as shopfronts, with chamfered corner bay to left. Broached ashlar principal elevation; stugged ashlar and coursed rubble SE elevation. Cornice between 1st and 2nd floor. Shouldered and chamfered openings at principal elevation. Long and short quoins.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: pair of 3-bay pilastered shopfronts advanced at ground, with cornice and blocking course, both comprising recessed modern glazed doors flanked by plate glass windows, glazed returns at doors, blind returns at sides, infilled to outer left. Regular fenestration to floors above.

SE ELEVATION: single bay; recessed to left, predominantly blank with window to left at 1st floor and aligned above at 2nd floor.

NW ELEVATION: adjoining terrace, see separate listing (32-32C Broughton Street).

Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered shouldered wallhead stacks, rendered stack breaking pitch; corniced and coped, with circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen, 1998; evidence of working panelled shutters.
