37, 39, 41 Barony Street, Edinburgh

37, 39, 41 Barony Street is a mid-19th century, four-storey terraced tenement with thirteen bays, and fifteen bays at the ground floor. It is constructed from broached ashlar sandstone, with polished ashlar at the ground floor. There is a band course between the ground and first floor, a cill course at the first floor, and projecting cills at the second and third floors. The cornice and blocking course at the third floor step up between Nos 35 and 37.

On the north (principal) elevation, there are four-panel timber doors with plate glass rectangular fanlights in the fourth bay from the left, and in the third, fourth, and sixth bays from the right. The remaining bays at the ground floor have windows, while the upper floors feature regular fenestration, with blind windows in the fourth bay from the left at the first floor and above. To the right, there is a modern rendered and coped gate pier.

The east elevation is adjacent to another building, the Glasite Meeting House at 33 Barony Street, which has a separate listing. The west elevation features a squared and snecked rubble gable, with an infilled window to the outer right at the ground floor, and pairs of infilled windows to the outer left and right at the first floor and above.

The building predominantly has twelve-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate M roof, and cast-iron rainwater goods. The ridge stacks are rendered and coped, with broached ashlar corniced gablehead stacks that have circular cans.

The interiors were not seen in 1998.
