73, 75, 77, 79 Broughton Street, Edinburgh

73, 75, 77, and 79 Broughton Street is a late 18th-century terraced tenement building featuring three and four storeys, a basement, and an attic. It has six bays and includes shops at the ground level. The structure is built of rubble with ashlar margins and has two linked wallhead nepus gables. Notable architectural features include a cornice on the left, projecting cills, and ashlar steps with entrance platts that overhang the basement. The left side has rusticated quoins.

The west (principal) elevation has nine bays at ground level, arranged in a pattern of five, one, and three. To the left, there is a five-bay shopfront with a linking cornice, and entrances to alternate bays that include fanlights. The remaining bays feature windows. Above, the fenestration is regular, grouped in threes, with the penultimate bay on the right blinded for symmetry. There is a piended dormer on the left and linked wallhead gable stacks on the right, with a piended roof at the far right.

The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The wallhead gable stacks have five terracotta cans each, and there are decorative cast-iron railings. The interior was not seen in 1998.
