23 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh

23 Marchmont Road in Edinburgh is a four-storey, two-bay Scottish 17th century tenement designed by Hippolyte Jean Blanc in 1880. The building is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. It features a base course, a string course above the first floor, a cornice above the second floor, and chamfered reveals.

On the west entrance elevation, there is a roll-moulded doorway located to the outer left, which leads to a deep-set panelled door topped by a plate glass fanlight. To the right of the door, there is a single window at the ground level, with bipartite windows above it. The third-floor window is adorned with a stylized pediment. The outer right side has a gabled advanced bay with tripartite windows on each floor and a blank heraldic tablet set in a square surround at the crowstepped gablehead. The building features plate glass sash and case windows, with some replacements at the ground level. The roof is covered with grey slate and has rendered and coped mutual stacks, a crowstepped gable adjoining the tenement to the north, and beak skewputts.

The interiors were not seen in 1991. There is a low boundary wall along the street.
