25 Marchmont Road, Edinburgh

25 Marchmont Road is a four-storey, four-bay tenement built in 1880 by Hippolyte Jean Blanc, designed in the Scottish 17th century style. It is part of a terrace and constructed from squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. The building features a base course, a string course above the first floor, and a cornice above the second floor. The third-floor windows break the eaves and have chamfered reveals.

The entrance elevation has a central roll-moulded doorway with a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight above. There is a square blank heraldic tablet set between the second and third floors. The bays flanking the doorway at the ground and third floors contain single windows, while the first and second floors have bipartite windows. The third-floor windows are topped with pedimented and finialled dormerheads. There are full-height advanced tripartite windows in the outer right bay, and a crowstepped gablehead with a square blank heraldic tablet inset. The outer left bay features a full-height canted window with an ogival roof covered in fishscale slates and topped with a cast-iron finial. The building has plate glass sash and case windows, with some replacements at the first floor to the right. The roof is made of grey slate, and there is a crowstepped gable adjoining the tenement to the north, along with rendered and coped wallhead stacks and mutual stacks.

The property has a low boundary wall along the street. The interiors were not seen in 1991.
