Description

Circa 1864. 2-storey 3-bay gabled house, with 2-storey canted window, pitched-roofed porch, decorative bargeboarding with kingposts and finials to gables. Squared and snecked bull-faced sandstone with ashlar dressings; long and short quions. Base course; projecting dividing course between ground and 1st floor. Tabbed, chamfered window surrounds; long and short quoins.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: advanced bay to left, with 2-storey canted window, corbelled out and swept to square in gable; dividing course carried up as hoodmould over rectangular panel in centre; quatrefoil carving with heraldic device in gable. Door in bracketed and bargeboarded pitched roofed porch with stop-chamfered entrance in centre bay; small window above. 2-light windows with stone mullions at ground and breaking eaves at 1st floor gablehead in right bay.

N AND S (SIDE) ELEVATIONS: prominent quoined stacks; lower 2-storey wing to rear with modern conservatory adjoining ground floor to N, gabled windows breaking eaves to 1st floor.

Predominantly plate glass in timber sash and case windows. Blue/grey slates (decorative to porch). Corniced ashlar stacks with octagonal cans. Urn-shaped heads to down pipes.

BOUNDARY WALL: ashlar-coped coursed sandstone boundary wall.
