6 Spottiswoode Street, Edinburgh

6 Spottiswoode Street in Edinburgh is a four-storey, four-bay tenement building designed by Edward Calvert in 1885. It features Baronal details and is part of a terrace. The structure is made of squared and snecked cream sandstone with contrasting polished ashlar dressings, which have been stone-cleaned. It has a base course, a string course above the first floor, and a corbel table at the third floor that steps down at the center. The reveals are chamfered.

On the west entrance elevation, there is a roll-moulded doorway with a relieving arch located to the right of center. The entrance includes a panelled door and a plate glass fanlight, with a small single window flanking it to the right. The center bays have single windows above, and the third-floor windows break the eaves in a half-pedimented dormer head linked by a central wallhead stack. The outer left and right bays feature full-height canted windows that are corbelled to square in crowstepped gable heads, with string courses above the first floor. The windows are plate glass sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there is a coped wallhead stack to the west along with coped mutual stacks.

The interiors were not seen in 1991. There is a low coped boundary wall along the street.
