9, 11, 13, 15 Frederick Street, Edinburgh

9, 11, 13, 15 Frederick Street is a classical tenement building constructed between 1786 and 1792. It has three storeys, a raised basement, and an attic, featuring five bays. The ground floor and basement have been altered for use as shops and a bar. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings. The inner left bay has a pair of doors beneath a single consoled cornice, which is narrower on the left side. The flanking openings are round-headed, with the right opening having been a door that is now glazed. There are shallow bowed glazed shop windows at Nos 9-11 in the basement. The two left bays at ground level have a cornice, and there is an eaves cornice with four modern timber dormers.

The upper floors feature timber sash and case 12-pane windows, and there are rendered stacks. Inside, there is a bar with a stair leading to a room on the ground floor, which has a door that is currently unused. The shop to the right on the ground floor is now accessed from a common stair door. The flats were not visible during the last inspection in 1995.
