104-112 Hanover Street, Edinburgh

104-112 Hanover Street is a classical tenement building constructed between 1784 and 1790, with later shops added at the ground level and an attic storey designed by Robert Morham in 1880. The building is four storeys high with a basement and features seven bays. It is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar, with polished dressings, and the paint was removed in 1994. The structure has long and short quoins.

At the center, there are steps leading to a common stair door, which is framed by a cavetto moulded architrave and cornice. To the left, there is a simple pilastered and corniced built-out shop, while to the right, a built-out shopfront features a mutulated cornice that incorporates a door leading to a first-floor public bar. The shop has a large canted center bay flanked by doors, with decorative glazing on the upper panes. Above the second floor, there is a former eaves cornice. The building is topped with a cornice and a balustraded parapet that includes dies.

There is also a two-storey, seven-bay range at the lane side, which contains a top-lit studio on the first floor. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, and the building has rendered stacks and grey slate roofing. The interior was not seen in 1995.
