Description

1822 with later alterations. 2-storey and attic, 6-bay mirrored pair of terraced town houses. V-jointed polished sandstone ashlar rustication at ground floor; polished sandstone ashlar band course between ground and 1st floors; droved sandstone ashlar at 1st floor. Base course; band course between ground and 1st floors; cill course at 1st floor; cornice and blocking course at eaves.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: No 6 (to left): deep-set 2-leaf timber panelled door with 3-pane rectangular fanlight at ground floor in bay to right; window at 1st floor above and in each bay of all floors to left. No 4 (to right): deep-set timber panelled door with umbrella-patterned fanlight at ground floor in bay to left; window at 1st floor above and in each bay at each floor to right; non-aligned box dormer above.

N AND S ELEVATIONS: obscured by adjoining buildings.

W ELEVATION: not seen 2000.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; slate-hung dormer; irregularly disposed rooflights to E pitch. Coped skew at S. Coped mutual ashlar multi-flue ridge stack to S; rubble multi-flue apex stack to N. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 2000.

RAILINGS: dwarf wall with ashlar cope, mounted by replacement railings to street.
