Description

30 Old Kirk Road is a two-storey, five-bay Art Deco modern house designed by Sir James Miller in 1931. The house features an irregular plan and height, with a flat roof and is constructed from whitewashed rendered brick, sitting on a brick base course with projecting cills.

The entrance elevation on the north side includes a recessed bay on the outer left with a replacement steel door at ground level. To the left, there is an advanced bay with a single window on both the ground and first floors, a timber door to the right, a cantilevered overhang, and an oculus at the first floor. On the right side of the advanced bay, there is a narrow triangular oriel stair window that rises through both floors. The recessed bay on the right has a window at ground level on the left.

The house features painted steel windows with hopper and casement openings on the upper panes, and the stair window has mottled glass.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is enclosed by low coped stepped sandstone boundary walls, with iron piers flanking pedestrian and vehicular entrances on the outer left and right, along with iron gates.
