Description

  1. 2-storey, 3-bay irregular plan baronial house. Coursed, squared and snecked sandstone; ashlar dressings. Base course; stepped dividing band course; stugged quoins. Crowstepped gables; thistle and ball finials.

S (ENTRANCE ELEVATION): roll-moulded near-central doorway; stained glass window to right; carved decorative tablet above dated 1896;

2 single windows at 1st floor. Conical-roof to stair-tower to left; stained glass window; single windows above and below. 3 light canted bay window at ground and 1st floor in advanced bay to outer left; single window at gable. 3-light canted bay window at ground and 1st in advanced bay to right; single window set in gablehead; conical-roof bartizan to outer right; single window. Modern brick extensions to outer left, outer right, and rear; conservatory to outer left.

Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows; Velux rooflights; stained glass. Grey slate roof; crowstepped skews; moulded skewputts; corniced ridge and wallhead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1997.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: low, coped squared, snecked and stugged sandstone wall; pyramidal caps to square-plan gatepiers.
