Description

John Watherston and Sons, 1906. 2-storey (3-storey at rear) Jacobean L-plan villa. Squared and snecked sandstone rubble with polished dressings. Moulded band course between ground and 1st floors; skews and skew-putts to gables; mullions and transoms to some windows.

S (FRONT) ELEVATION: advanced, gabled bay at right with single storey canted bay at ground with raised moulded parapet; quadripartite window above, with relieving arch; panelled timber door with bipartite fanlight to centre at ground; gabled dormer to tripartite window at 1st floor above; bipartite window to ground at left of door; widely spaced windows to gabled bay at left, to either side of chimney-breast (both floors); gablehead stack; principally bipartite windows to W (side) elevation, arranged irregularly; recessed door to ground of gabled bay towards right, with mullioned and transomed 6-light window above; wallhead stack at centre; 2-storey canted bay with parapet to right of E (side) elevation.

Leaded windows. Grey slate roof; tall, coped wallhead and gablehead stacks; painted cast-iron rainwater goods.

GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: coped, squared and snecked boundary wall with coursed, corniced gate piers with large acorn finials.
