Description
66 Forest Road in Aberdeen is a villa built in 1900 by Brown and Watt. It is two stories tall with an attic and features two bays. The front (east) elevation is made of finely finished, tooled coursed grey granite, while the rest of the building is constructed from rubble. It has a rough-faced base course, a first-floor cill course, and overhanging eaves.
The east elevation is asymmetrical, with a doorway located on the ground floor of the right bay. This doorway has a curvilinear carved lintel with a keystone above, and a panelled timber door with a fanlight. Flanking the door are two small stained glass windows. Above, there is a single window with a bowed cill on the first floor. The left bay features a four-light canted window that extends through both the ground and first floors, with a parapet that breaks the eaves.
The north elevation is gabled and has a window in the center, with a wing adjoining to the right. The west elevation was not visible in 2000. The south elevation is symmetrical and gabled, with openings centered on both the ground and first floors.
The villa predominantly has two-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with a lead ridge, and corniced gablehead stacks with circular cans. It also features cast-iron rainwater goods with decorative top hoppers.
The interior was not seen in 2000. The property includes scrolled granite gatepiers on the east side, a low coped wall between them topped with railings, and rubble walls surrounding the remainder of the property.
