1 Mound Place, Edinburgh

1 Mound Place in Edinburgh is a late 18th century tenement building that stands four storeys high with an attic and features three bays. The structure has a basement on the left side and is sloped to align with the street. It has a two-window nepus gable with a central apex stack. The building is constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings and includes a dividing band between the basement and ground floors. It showcases long and short quoins and has raised margins around the windows.

Access to the building is via stone steps and platts, which are adorned with cast-iron railings that arch over the basement area. The central entrance features a timber panelled door set in a corniced surround. The basement area is also enclosed with cast-iron railings. The attic has later segmental-arched timber dormers.

The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The building has corniced apex and end stacks, each fitted with circular cans.
