Ardrishaig, Pier Square, Canal Office

The Canal Office in Ardrishaig, built in the mid-19th century, is a two-storey, three-bay structure that originally included separate accommodation for the keeper on the first floor. The building is constructed of rubble with in-and-out ashlar dressings, featuring a base course and a moulded eaves course. There are steps leading to a stop-chamfered and corniced doorpiece at the center, flanked by bipartite windows on either side. Access to the upper floor is provided by a separate door on the left side of the south gable. The windows on the upper floor are replacement timber sash and case with four-pane glazing in the upper sash. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are coped end stacks with clay cans.

Inside, as seen in 2013, there is a glazed vestibule. The principal room on the ground floor contains a large metal walk-in safe. The upper floors can be accessed via the door on the southwest gable, and a room to the west retains an early 20th-century kitchen range.
