Upper Craigard, Gareloch Road, Rhu

Upper Craigard is an early 20th-century, two-storey, three-bay house located on Gareloch Road in Rhu. The building features a rectangular plan and is finished with white-painted harl, accented by painted ashlar margins and dressings.

The house has projecting eaves and exposed rafters, with raised cills. The south elevation, which is the principal facade, displays three symmetrical bays. At the center, there is a door flanked by canted windows, all covered by a timber porch canopy and united by a half-pitched slate roof. The first floor has symmetrically arranged windows, with a single window at the center and tripartite windows on the outer left and right.

On the west elevation, there is a wallhead stack at the center, with windows symmetrically placed on the outer left and a blank wall on the right. A small half-pitched porch door is located at the re-entrant angle, which is boarded with a three-pane upper light. The windows are six-pane over plate glass sash and case types. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a piend and platformed design, and there are tall harled wallhead stacks with sandstone coping topped by round terracotta cans.

The boundary wall surrounding the property is a low rubble wall with ashlar slab coping, which steps down to the west and is adorned with arrowhead railings.
