Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, symmetrical 5-bay, rectangular-plan pair of houses. Rubble with red sandstone ashlar margins and dressings. Quoin strips; stop-chamfered reveals. Gabled bipartite dormerheads. Projecting eaves, timber eaves cornice.

W ELEVATION: 5 bays. Bays to outer left and right with bipartite

windows symmetrically disposed to each floor; dormerheads above.

3 bays grouped at centre under gable breaking eaves. Window at centre at ground, blind window at 1st floor, blind round-headed window in gablehead. Door to each house to right and left of centre bay; plain architraves with entablature, 4-panelled door with rectangular plate glass fanlight (door to right modern). Windows symmetrically placed at 1st floor.

E ELEVATION: 5 asymmetrical bays. Modern, flat-roofed concrete

extension at centre; iron forestair to 1st floor.

5-lying-pane glazing; plate glass windows for right dormerhead; some replacement windows at rear. Grey slate roof; broad, rendered and coped ridge stack; flue and breast projecting at right gable.
