Description
2 Panmure Place in Montrose is a mid-19th century, two-storey and attic, three-bay classical house located at the end of a terrace. The front is finished in sandstone ashlar, while the sides are rendered and the rear is harled. It features a band course above the ground floor, an eaves course, and a blocking course.
On the principal elevation, there is a central doorpiece with pilasters and a cornice, a rectangular fanlight, and a panelled door. To the right of the door, there is a window, and above, the first floor has windows in shallow recesses with aprons, with a raised blocking course over the central window. To the left, there is a full-height canted bay window, with canted dormers above the outer bays.
The north elevation has a gable end with a window to the right on the first floor. The west elevation displays irregular fenestration, with a dormer breaking the eaves in the center and a canted dormer to the right. The south elevation adjoins 3 Panmure Place.
The house features four-pane timber sash and case windows, with plate glass in the canted bay at the front and in the dormers. The roof is pitched with graded grey slate and has coped skews on the north side. There are brick gablehead stacks on the north and south sides.
The boundary walls and railings include a low, coped stone wall at the front with decorative cast-iron railings topped with fleur-de-lys finials. The rear boundary walls are rendered and coped, featuring a corniced entrance on the north side with a four-panel door.
