Description

This warehouse, located at 4 St Mary's Road in Montrose, dates from around 1800 and features a three-storey, three-bay rectangular plan. The front is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone, while the sides and rear are made of rubble.

On the north elevation, there is a large boarded entrance to the right and another entrance to the left of the center at the ground floor. A brick-built lean-to is located in the center, and there is a brick and corrugated-iron addition to the left that is not included in the listing. At the first floor, there is a loft door in the center with windows flanking it, and at the second floor, there are windows centered above.

The west elevation features a gable end that adjoins a neighboring property. The east elevation has a single bay gable end with a doorway in the center at ground level, a brick lean-to porch addition, and windows at the first and second floors above. There is a blocked window in the gablehead and a later timber-mullioned bipartite window to the right at ground level.

On the south elevation, there is a doorway at the extreme right on the ground floor, with windows at the first and second floors offset to the left. A window is located in the center at the second floor, along with openings at ground level and windows at the first and second floors to the left.

The first-floor windows are timber-framed with six panes or six panes below and two panes above, while the second-floor windows feature plate glass. The roof is pitched and covered with grey slate, with stone coped skews. The interior was not seen in 1998.
