Description
Effords is a warehouse built around the 1820s. It is constructed from local red breccia rubble and has a slate roof that is gabled at both ends. The building has a narrow rectangular plan that is truncated at the southwest end and stands three storeys tall. The front of the building is asymmetrical with three windows that have regular spacing. The ground-floor windows are blocked, but there are segmental-headed openings that extend one bay beyond, indicating that the warehouse originally extended further southwest. The first floor features three segmental-headed windows, while the second-floor windows are set high under the eaves and have vertical timber bars. The right side of the building is clad in timber and corrugated iron and includes steps leading up to a first-floor entrance, with another entrance located at the left end. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features. Overall, Effords is an externally well-preserved example of its type.
