Old Farmhouse, Westhall Farm

Old Farmhouse at Westhall Farm is a 17th-century building that has undergone later additions and alterations, including a reduction in height. It is a single-storey, L-plan former farmhouse that has been converted for general farm use. The structure is built of pink and buff rubble sandstone, featuring rough-hewn ashlar quoins and a stone slate roof with beak skewputts. The windows are 8-pane sash and case with various margins.

On the south elevation, which was the former front, there are three bays. The central window is formed from a blocked door, with the lintel slightly raised and chamfered back-set margins on the sides. The window to the right has chamfered margins, while the left window has margined reveals. There is evidence of first-floor window cills at the wallhead. The gable on the right return has a later central entrance and large sliding doors, with coped skews and a moulded skew end.

The west elevation features a gable on the right, mostly obscured by thick ivy, but a blocked door is visible on the left. There is a lower later bay on the left with a frameless window and massive quoins, and a lean-to at the far left with a collapsed roof.

On the north elevation, there is an advanced gable on the right with a gable stack and a door in the left re-entrant. The recessed main block on the left has an entrance on the right and a sliding door, along with various other blocked openings and a stone mask ornament at the centre.

Inside, the walls are whitewashed and part plastered, and there is a range with a sway on the west side.
