Description
The churchyard of Murroes Parish Church features various tombstones from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, including some table-tombs. The enclosure is made of dry stone rubble walls topped with cast-iron railings and gates on the west side. The south and west sides have flat coping stones, with inscriptions such as "short toil, eternal rest" visible on the inside. There are also numbered stones and an inscription noting "ten trees planted 1896." On the north wall, adjacent to the gatepiers, there are sculpted remains of an angel holding a shield with the Fothringham arms.
The gatepiers consist of two round-headed monolithic piers on the west side and two ashlar piers on the north side, which have moulded caps.
