Sawmill, Glamis

The building is a small single-storey and attic plash mill, dating from 1806, located on sloping ground and converted into a turning mill with an internal wheel. It is constructed of rubble with dressed ashlar quoins and features a corrugated-iron roof.

On the southwest elevation, the single-storey façade has a raised ground level at the centre, leading to a boarded timber door in a gabled loft dormer. A timber launder bridges over rubble piers, with a sluice to the right.

The southeast elevation includes a timber wheel-housing at ground level and a blocked opening in the gable head.

The northeast elevation, facing Glamis Burn, has a door at the centre flanked by windows in the adjacent bays. The main entrance elevation features small-pane windows, while the southeast gable has a boarded loft door and a loft window. The building also has timber-lintelled, louvered shutters and corrugated sheet roofing.
