Old Brewery, 83 North Castle Street, Banff

The Old Brewery, located at 83 North Castle Street in Banff, is a substantial building from the mid-18th century, possibly incorporating earlier elements. It features a three-storey L-shaped layout with a return elevation facing Battery Green. The Castle Street side has 17 bays, although some openings have been blocked. Notable architectural features include two tall round-headed keystoned arches with blocked imposts. The exterior is finished in harled rubble with ashlar margins, and the street-facing windows primarily consist of 4-pane glazing in fixed timber lights, with variations elsewhere. A later shop has been added, featuring an enlarged window placed between the round-headed pend archways.

The elevation facing Battery Green is irregular and likely consists of different building phases. The interior mainly showcases rubble elevations with some projecting additions and alterations. The building is topped with slate roofs.
