Description
Old Manse in Kirktown of Bourtie is a mid-18th century building that was originally designed as a two-storey, three-window T-plan structure, featuring a basement at the two-window rear gable. It bears a strong resemblance to Cromlet House in Meldrum. The exterior is constructed from pinned rubble and includes chamfered openings and skewputs.
There is a front addition from the early 19th century that is also two-storey and three-window, with a low-pitched, chimneyless west gable. The south flank has a one-window section with a pedimented porch. The glazing is mostly original, although there have been some late additions and alterations. A walled garden, which is coped, is located to the south of the house.
