62 (Old Smiddy) North Deeside Road, Kincardine O'Neil

Number 62, the Old Smiddy, and Number 64, an adjoining cottage, stand on North Deeside Road in Kincardine O'Neil. Number 62, dating from the earlier 19th century, was originally a blacksmith's workshop (smiddy) and later served as a Brethren meeting room. The gable end faces the road, and the lintel above the attic window is inscribed with the date 1873. There are two windows on the ground floor. A stone ball finial has been restored to the apex of the roof. Number 64 is a single-storey and attic cottage with two windows and a central door. Two dormers have been added later, and there is a chimney stack on the east gable end, and a ridge stack where the two properties join. The roofs are covered with grey slate, and the rainwater goods are made of cast iron. The group value of these buildings is the reason for their listing, applying to both the interior and exterior.
